Keeping it green

We’re passionate about doing our bit for the planet and so making ChoirBLAST as eco friendly as possible has been part of how we’ve done things from the beginning. There’s 2 main ways we impact the environment: carbon emissions and producing waste.

We’ve done several things to try and reduce these:

* Getting electricity to stages and food stands in the middle of a field can be difficult! Often, diesel generators are the only option, but these produce a lot of carbon dioxide. So, we use electricity from the nearby buildings as much as possible to reduce the number of generators we need - and, the Duck stage in 2024 was completely powered by solar power! * The emissions from choirs and visitors travel is another big source of carbon emissions and one we can’t control. We’re lucky that Godalming has a good train link and electric vehicle chargers in the town. We encourage everyone to travel by public transport or lift share where they can. * We don’t want to use more of the planet’s resources than we need to, so we borrow, rent and reuse as much of our staging, equipment and decorations as we can. This also saves us money so we can support our causes. * We work with all our stall holders and partners to encourage as many eco friendly options as we can, and in 2025, all our waste will be sorted properly by our suppliers.

You can help us make ChoirBLAST even more eco friendly!

  • Bring your own reusable bottles and cups - we have water stations, and our drinks vendors love reducing waste, too!

  • Don't buying anything new for the event - Vinted, eBay, Olio etc are all brilliant for buying second hand picnic blankets or chairs!

  • Use eco friendly transport to get to us - you can find more info about options on our Visiting Godalming page

  • Put your rubbish in the right bins - everything will be labelled, but if you're unsure, please take it home
